"notes": "Matrix Notes\n\nThis is my second Grateful Dead matrix release, but first try at a full show. This date has no other matrix release yet and I felt the soundboard could benefit. I was not familiar with this show before now but I love Fall '79. The show is widely known and well regarded with some big highlights including a hot Jack Straw and unique Dancin' > Frankin's transition. I had originally planned to use the Bob Wagner audience source for this since it is the most recent transfer and is very high quality with minimal pitch/speed issues. After auditioning all the sources and making some test mixes I chose the 'unknown/AndrewF' source because it is a much more upfront and lively capture from down on the floor. It adds real depth to the sbd transients, whereas the Wagner blend felt more like just adding ambience. The crowd energy on the 'unknown' audience is huge and it has a nice stereo image. It took far more work to properly align this source though and I found a few small 3-4s segments of serious tape stretching or degradation. The soundboard source is very good. Nicely speed/pitch corrected and mastered. The only changes I made was reducing the stereo spread to %60 with MUtility to match the audience, and a +3db EQ at 80hz. I made no other changes or edits to this source besides removing the existing patches and replacing them with the aud source. All speed/pitch/edits were made to the audience source only. On the audience I added a -6db high-pass filter EQ at 20hz due to the intense stomping/clapping. The blend between sources is about ~55sbd/45aud (RMS).\n\nSoftware/Tools: Audacity 3.7.1, Melda MUtilities Free suite",
