He used a Nakamichi 550 with Nakamichi 300 mics with shotgun capsules for most of his earlier recordings. In later years he used Sony D-5 and Sony D-3 cassette recorders with Nakamichi 300 mics.\n\nMason captured spectacular musical moments and loved to share them with his closest friends.       "notes": "Notes:\n- Thanks to Bob Wagner for the master cassette source. Bob and Barry Glassberg taped the Spring '80 shows together, they each had one Nakamichi 700 mic and each had a D5 deck. They ran their individual mics together as a pair and each recorded a master on their respective D5's. One night Bob was the lead deck, the next night Barry was the lead deck.
